Red Wine Sangria

I love, love, love Sangria!!! It is one of my favorite summer drinks. I thought I would post my favorite Sangria recipe, because I am so ready for warmer weather. Here in the midwest there are no signs of spring - it is suppose to be a high of 20 degrees on Saturday. What is that! I am getting tired of this. So maybe this weekend I will made Sangria - to get me in the mood. Of course, not the kind of mood my husband would like - although alcohol does help in his favor sometimes.

3 1/4 cups dry red wine (go ahead and use cheap wine it doesn't matter)
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brandy
1/3 cup Triple Sec
1/3 cup lemon flavored vodka (only have regular vodka - just add the juice of one or lemons)
1 cup pineapple juice
1 small lemon, sliced clockwise
1 small orange, sliced clockwise
1 small lime, sliced clockwise
1 medium pear, diced
1 medium apple, diced
2 cups strawberries, sliced
1 bottle carbonated lemon lime soda

In a pitcher combine all ingredients except the strawberries and soda. Chill in the refrigerator overnight. Immediately before serving, stir in the strawberries and lemon lime soda. Pour into chilled glasses over ice.

Be sure you keep in mind that this drink is pretty potent. Especially if you decide to eat the yummy fruit that has been soaking up all the alcohol overnight. It will knock you on arse!!! Enjoy!!!

Mmmmm yum yum, that sounds really tasty!! Okay so you probably don't want to hear that it's 72 degrees and sunny here today, so I won't mention it. LOL

Hope Shane's gift got there okay. I lost the tracking number, so I wasn't able to track it. Also, we didn't get your dad's card mailed until Friday, so it may not arrive until after his birtday. Wish we could be there!

Love,
Karen
